Ethical Reporting Policy

I. OUR COMMITMENT TO ETHICAL, ACCURATE, AND RESPONSIBLE STORYTELLING

True Crime Story911 Media Group is committed to producing compelling, accurate, and ethically responsible true crime journalism.

Our work must uphold the highest standards of integrity, protect victims and their families, and provide readers with complete and accurate information from start to finish.

These standards apply to all writers, editors, and contributors.

II. VICTIM-FOCUSED REPORTING

All stories must center on the victim, not the perpetrator.

• Use respectful, non-sensational language
• Avoid glamorizing offenders
• Seek sensitivity and empathy in all descriptions
• Avoid unnecessary graphic detail

III. ACCURACY, VERIFICATION & FACTUAL INTEGRITY

Every fact must be verified through credible sources.

• Confirm details with at least two reputable sources
• Clearly label allegations and developing information
• Avoid speculation and rumors

IV. PRIVACY, SAFETY & SENSITIVE INFORMATION

• Protect private addresses, phone numbers, and personal information
• Avoid identifying minors unless officially released
• Use only official state or federal Missing/Wanted posters
• Properly attribute all photos

V. ZERO SENSATIONALISM

• No dramatization, exaggeration, or unverified claims
• No shock-driven writing
• No copying theories or speculation from social media

VI. FAIRNESS, NO STEREOTYPES & CONTEXT

Stories must avoid bias related to race, gender, mental health, or socioeconomic status.

Writers must provide relevant context when covering domestic violence, systemic failures, or law enforcement issues.

VII. CORRECTIONS & TRANSPARENCY

• Errors will be corrected immediately
• Updates must be timestamped and clearly noted

VIII. ADVOCACY THROUGH ACCURATE REPORTING

When relevant, we include:

• Tip lines
• Domestic violence resources
• Missing persons resources
• Trauma support

Our mission is not only to inform, but also to support justice, victims, and the communities we serve.
