The Gilgo Beach Killer, Rex Heuermann

 Rex Heuermann was arrested for murder in July 2023 and accused of being the Gilgo Beach Killer. He claimed he was innocent. Evidence that has connected Heuermann to the murders includes DNA, a “blueprint” he had used, and more. On April 8, 2026, Heuermann admitted that he murdered eight women over 17 years (between 1993 and 2010), and he changed his plea to guilty.

Ayman Ghazali drove his truck into the front doors of Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan, on March 12, 2026. After he became trapped in his vehicle and a fire started, Ghazali shot at others in a gunfight, then took his own life. A large number of fireworks and what appeared to be gasoline were found in his vehicle.
