Three Cases That Defined Our Story
Over the past three years, True Crime Story has covered cases that stayed with us long after they were published. Some for the questions they left behind. Others for the impact they had on the public. These are three of the cases that helped define that journey.
In November 2022, four University of Idaho students were found murdered inside an off-campus home in Moscow, Idaho. The attack shocked the community and quickly gained national attention, as investigators worked to understand how four lives could be taken in a single home without immediate answers.
As weeks passed, the case remained unsolved, with limited public information and growing speculation. In December 2022, authorities arrested Bryan Kohberger, a criminology Ph.D. student, linking him to the case through investigative evidence. Kohberger later pleaded guilty and received four consecutive life sentences — but never explained why he committed the killings.
Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance became a case defined by uncertainty and unanswered questions. What began as a missing person investigation quickly shifted toward inconsistencies in timelines, relationships, and the details surrounding her last known movements.
Despite ongoing attention, the case has remained unresolved, with no clear explanation for what happened. It stands as a reminder of how quickly someone can vanish — and how difficult it can be to piece together the truth when key details never fully align.
The case involving Luigi Mangione quickly gained national attention after he was charged with the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who was shot and killed in Manhattan in December 2024.
Investigators later outlined how the shooting unfolded, including the events leading up to the attack and the actions taken afterward. Mangione was taken into custody days later, and the case became one that people followed closely as it moved forward through the courts.
Three years of stories. Three cases that continue to be followed, questioned, and remembered.
